Cross Training. Many athletes do it, but much more should. I am not going to fall into the trap of those who do not cross train.
Today was a gym day, as I was just exhausted from a full day in the office, a TIGHT lacrosse game against a great team that we barely ended up losing, and RCIA class last night. Instead of getting on the bike, I went to the gym, warmed up for 15 minutes on the elliptical, then ran a "mini-duathlon"- 1.5 mile run, 5 mile bike, 1.5 mile run. I followed this with a cool-down on the stair climber, then weights.
It was nice to break up the monotony on the bike.
I do have some bad news. Apparently, the cyclist that was hit on the training ride WAS dead when I passed him being attended to on the road at our last Key Biscayne ride. To cyclists- be careful. To drivers- get some sleep, get the hell off your cell phone, and PAY ATTENTION to the road.
